The Kainai Legacy
Howdy folks —
Joshua Kainai (Many Chief) here, owner and lead guide at Alberta Big Game Outfitters — ABGO. I want to talk to you about something close to my heart: the elk hunt. But more than that — the legacy behind it, the tradition, and the raw power of calling in a bull.

The Crown of the King
The antlers of a mature Alberta bull elk — they’re not just bone. They’re a story. A symbol of survival. A crown earned by a bull that’s fought winters, wolves, rivals, and time itself. You look at those towering beams and you’re looking at years of dominance, instinct, and wild wisdom.
When you put your hands on a rack like that — when you trace those tines, feel the weight — you’re not just holding a trophy. You’re holding a piece of the land.

Our Elk Hunts: A Real Alberta Experience
Whether we’re chasing bugles high up in the ridges, glassing the quiet valleys of the North Fork, or picking apart the foothills near Sofa Mountain — these are my stomping grounds. I’ve walked this ground since I was a kid, learning every trail and ridge from the Elders and the animals themselves.
I built ABGO to give hunters a real chance at a truly special bull — not a high-fenced dream, but a wild, earned encounter. Our hunts are tailored to you, but always rooted in respect: for the land, the animals, and the tradition behind it all.
Speaking Elk: The Power of the Call
Let me tell you something real: there’s no moment in the woods more intense than calling in a bull.
I had the honor of learning from Al Morris, World Champion game caller. That man helped me sharpen every part of my calling — from soft cow chirps to aggressive bugles that cut through the timber like a knife. With his mentorship and my years in the bush, I didn’t just learn to imitate elk — I learned to speak their language.
When I send out a call, I’m not just hoping — I’m starting a conversation. That bull hears a cow that sounds too good to ignore. Or he hears a rival that’s stepping on his turf. And when he screams back, trust me — it’s on.
Sometimes he’ll circle, sometimes he’ll charge right in, steam pouring from his nostrils, antlers slicing through the trees. And if you’re with me, I’ll be right there beside you — reading his every move, matching his tone, pulling him closer with every call.

That’s not just hunting. That’s power. That’s connection. That’s the wild.

More Than a Hunt — It’s a Legacy
When you hunt with me, Joshua Kainai (Many Chief), you’re stepping into something sacred. My family has walked these lands for generations. The animals, the ridges, the wind — they’ve all shaped who I am. And when you take part in that, you’re not just bringing home a trophy.
You’re taking home a story. A connection. A piece of the Kainai legacy.

That bull you harvest will hang on your wall — sure — but it’ll also live in your heart. And when someone asks you about it, you’ll smile. You’ll remember the breath in your chest, the bugle echoing through the pines, and you’ll say: “Let me tell you what happened out in Alberta…”
So come out. Let’s chase bugles under the Alberta sky.
Let’s hunt hard, hunt right, and bring home something
unforgettable.
Let’s make your own Kainai legacy — one call at a time.
